Why would I need a Smoothwall Speedplate?

Some manhole frames are completely smooth inside and provide no attachment point for a Standard Speedplate. The Smoothwall Speedplate works quite well by a series of barbed projections that grab the smooth walls of the frame. The harder you pull up the tighter it grabs the frame.
